Fabric Guide
Know Your Fabric
Three signature fabrics. One simple goal: help you pick the right one for the weather, the occasion, and your tailor.
Pakistan's climate is generous with heat and dust — and unkind to the wrong fabric. Wash & Wear shines in May; cotton breathes through July; Grace earns its place on the occasion where a little drape and sheen matters. Here's the honest breakdown of each.
01 — Cotton Fabric
Soft, breathable, made for the heat.
Pure cotton woven for everyday comfort. Light against the skin, airy enough for Lahore-in-June, soft enough for an office cubicle. Wrinkles easily — that's the trade-off for breathability.
- Best for: Summer, daily wear, office, mosque
- Feel: Soft, matte, slightly textured weave
- Hand-feel weight: ~150 g/m — light
- Wrinkle factor: Yes — needs ironing
- Care: Cold machine wash, hang dry in shade, iron when damp

02 — Wash & Wear
Crease-free. Wash, hang, wear.
A polyester-cotton blend engineered for the man who doesn't iron. Holds its shape through the wash, dries fast, walks out of the cupboard looking sharp. Slightly less breathable than pure cotton — but the time saved is real.
- Best for: Daily wear, travel, low-maintenance routines
- Feel: Smooth, slight sheen, structured fall
- Hand-feel weight: ~180 g/m — medium
- Wrinkle factor: Minimal — touch-up iron at most
- Care: Machine wash, hang dry, ready to wear
03 — Grace
Refined drape for the occasion.
Our premium blend — a heavier weave with a subtle sheen, designed for Eid, weddings, formal evenings, and the days you want to be the best-dressed man in the room. Holds a tailored line beautifully.
- Best for: Eid, weddings, formal evenings, occasions
- Feel: Substantial, soft hand, refined drape
- Hand-feel weight: ~200 g/m — heavier, more structured
- Wrinkle factor: Low — recovers well
- Care: Dry clean recommended for first wash; cold gentle wash after

Common questions
How much fabric do I need for one shalwar kameez?
Adults: 4.5 metres. That's exactly what every SHA LIBAS order ships with — pre-cut, no measuring. Your tailor will have plenty for kameez (shirt), shalwar (trouser), and trim.
Cotton vs Wash & Wear — which one for daily office wear?
If you can iron (or someone does it for you) — Cotton. Breathes better in heat. If you can't or don't want to — Wash & Wear. Comes out of the wash crisp.
What's the right fabric for Eid?
Grace. It has the weight and drape that a proper Eid kameez deserves. Wear it once and you'll feel the difference vs everyday cotton.
Will the colour match the photos exactly?
Every product is photographed in natural light against the actual fabric. Screens vary slightly — if you're picky on a specific shade, WhatsApp us and we'll send a close-up.
How should I wash unstitched fabric before stitching?
For Cotton and Wash & Wear, we recommend a cold gentle pre-wash so the fabric "settles" before your tailor cuts. For Grace, dry-clean the first time. Always hang dry in shade.
