Cotton or Wash & Wear for a white suit?
Choose pure cotton fabric if comfort in the heat matters most. It breathes, feels soft, and looks naturally matte. It creases, so plan to iron it slightly damp.
Choose Wash & Wear if you want a white suit that still looks neat at the end of a long day. It resists creases, dries quickly and is more opaque. It is a little warmer than cotton in peak summer. Our fabric comparison goes deeper.
Will it be see-through?
Light summer cotton (about 150 g/m²) can show a little in strong sunlight, the same as any light white cotton. Most men wear a cotton vest underneath. If that bothers you, the cream Wash & Wear (about 180 g/m²) is noticeably more opaque.
Keeping white white
Wash whites on their own in cold water with a mild detergent, dry them in the shade, and never leave them damp in the machine. Treat sweat and deodorant marks the same day. More in our fabric care guide.

What is the best white fabric for a men's shalwar kameez?
For summer and Friday prayers, pure cotton: it breathes and softens with every wash. If you don't want to iron, choose a cream Wash & Wear, which resists creases and is less see-through than light cotton.
Is white cotton fabric see-through?

What is the difference between white, off-white and cream?
White is a bright, cool white. Off-white is a softer white with a touch of warmth that looks less stark in photos. Cream is warmer again, closer to ivory, and suits daytime weddings and Eid.
How much white fabric do I need for a shalwar kameez?
